What do you think about your current job? Do you love what you do? Do you find enjoyment in your daily activities? Or, are you going through the motions? Are you planning on leaving the moment something better comes along?

After being displaced from a job, there is no better feeling than getting a new job. Many people tend to excel the first few months in a new position. Performance typically settles back down to a baseline level. Organizational culture then takes over and has a huge impact employee performance.

There are specific steps you can take to boost your performance and enjoyment at work.

1) Complete difficult projects, or responsibilities (performance reviews, discipline meeting) first in the morning. When a person procrastinates on these issues, performance and productivity drops. You may also become more agitated or tense.
2) Prioritize your responsibilities at the end of the day for the next day. Often, we get bombarded by side issues when arriving at work. When you have a list of priorities pre-arranged, you can make the best decision on which project to pursue.
3) Focus on your strengths. Marcus Buckingham (First Break All the Rules) states that employees need to focus on their strengths, then delegate weaknesses to other co-workers. This process allows for higher productivity and performance.
4) Communication: Have frequent or a set schedule to meet with your boss. Discuss or review what issues where you have exceeded expectations, where issues are normal and where you need assistance.

These quick tips can help you boost your productivity and increase your mood and performance. If you are looking to make a change, network, look everywhere, but keep your performance level high.
