What is an acceptable risk at your home or business?
How many security risks are acceptable for your computer network?
How many DUI deaths are acceptable? 34,000?

Are you willing to walk through an X-ray machine that makes you appear naked? What makes you feel safe? Does your company follow strict OSHA requirements? How many slip and fall injuries are acceptable?

This weeks Christmas/terrorist attempt show the flaws in our society’s critical thinking. I appreciate the fact that the U.S. has zero tolerance for airline crashes. I would also appreciate it if we had zero tolerance for DUI and deaths caused by guns. The first reaction was to have passengers sit for the last hour of an international flight. What about the previous seven hours? Does anyone feel safe with the announcements about parking and luggage at the US airports?

Leadership requires critical thinking and risk management. It also requires different thinking styles and points of view. How does Israel security compare with US airports?
During this week, think about what are willing to discuss and deal with in order to be safer, not just feel good safety. Talk about it with your family and friends. What type of communication is allowed by the CEO, VP, supervisor or manager?
When we educate and empower people, they make the best decisions. When we react, make snap decisions, regret is the usual response.
